The Stained Glass Window

Our stained glass was designed by Honolulu stained glass artist Erica Karawina and has many symbolic features.

The Chi (X) Rho (P) symbol comes from the first two letters of the Greek work XPICTOS, pronounced Christos. Interwoven, they form an ancient monogram used throughout Christendom as the symbol of Christ.

Gems of all colors represent the gathering of people from all walks of life as we share the unity of Christ. The waters of life and the baptism are represented by the blue and green colored glass as the base of the window.

Criss-crossing diagonal lines form the strands of a fish net, an interpretation of Matthew 13:47 - "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net which is thrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind".
